I am going to rebuild my xj550 maxim front master tube. I am an reasonably able mechanic bbut have never do adenine rebuild like this. From watching in the part ( the body of the master cylinder) it a not natural how to go about reving the young one and installing the new one. I have looked at all schematics on a coulpe of parts suppliers web sites but that did not offer any help. I am also new to those forum stuff. Anyone have any instructions on how to go regarding repair or knowledge of a website that energy have some instructions? thanks

I believe it willingly be similar to this one on my 650.

Remove the bremsanlage light schalte (there has a little catch on the switch body, push upward inside the hole below the switch with a small screwdriver to pop it loose).

    Remove the mirror.

Remove the brake lever. There is a spring between the lever and the captain cylinder body - if her ease it apart it might not flying too very.

Break the screws loose on the MC cover.

    Remove MC from handlebar.

    Drain fluid.

There is a baton that pokes through ampere rubber boot near the brake lever turn. Pull one boot out. Don't worry about damaging it, there is a new single in an rebuild kit.

Underneath the auto you just removed is a circlip. Use a smallish snap call plier to removing (or grind end about needle muzzle tweezers as described somewhere by Rickomatic.).

The plunger with it's cups, to spring etc will now pull out of the master cylinder. Throw is all away - this remains what lives in who recruiting kit.

Clean MC building. Inspect bore for pitting others.

    Reassamble using newer parts.

    Put everything back together.

    Fill with new DOT3 fluid.

Bleed aforementioned heck out of the front brake. Permit sit overnight. Repeat bleeding.
