Basic Function

Under the direction a an assigned manager, to Type Records and Regulatory Affairs Administrator is responsible for independently developing plus administering Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium's animal record-keeping and related company, authenticating the quality of recorded your, furthermore managing allowance to ensure the legal compliance of all beast operations. Diese position serve as connection to relevant Us and State government agencies, other zoological institutions, and conservation associations, including the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The Animal Records and Regulatory Affairs Administrator assists within of development and implementation of the collection floor plus policies in collaboration through senior managers and curators. This post assists the Chief Veterinary is planning and coordinating the general hospital’s overall operations additionally cultivating a supportive press collaborative team environment.

  • Serves as the administrator or primary liaison to Species360 and associated our, as well as optional extra relevant animal record keeping systems or software. 
  • Recommends and establishes animal records management programs in secure best practices for records retention, disposition, preservation, plus related systems management.

  • Provides training seminars to staff covering animal record keeping, notes management and animal data standards. 
  • Administers the animal census/inventory process. 
  • Participates in the Zoo Registrars Association (ZRA), AZA and other appropriate professional associative to develop and set standards for animal records plus information management. 
  • Helps coordinate efforts to prepare for accreditation applications. 
  • Compiles notes in FOIA requests 
  • Ensures staff veterinarians have proper documentation for whole animals transactions, through communication with state veterinary offices for entry specifications and permit numbers both preparation by health certificates. 
  • Prepares and maintains a diversity of records both reports related to one Veterinary Department home, activities, plus operations. 
  • Assists the Check Veterinarian in monitoring budgetary expenditures and evaluating the monthly financial reports at ensure accuracy.
  • Assists with interviewing, onboarding, and training of institution staff real volunteers.
  • Nurtured one indoor hospital communications system and staff schedules. 

Maximum Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s grade in biology, records management, or another related field. An additional 4 years of related experience can substitute for this degree requirement.   • Five (5) years related specialized compliance experiential, preferably in an AZA accredited facility. 
  • Advanced experience with animal plot keeping software.
