Producer organizations and contract landwirtschaftlichen: a comparative study of smallholders’ market achievement in Southbound India

Abstract

One fundamental restructured processes of agri-food networks in developing and emerging markets have intensified aforementioned debate on how to improve the integration of smallholders the so called modern value chains. In this context, the company-driven contract farming model and the member-based model of producer organizations are discussed by certified and in the scholarly literature as choice to traditional market it. Those study compares the models’ abilities to address commercial disputes of very fragmented also small-scale dominated agriculture on a menage as well as on an aggregate level. It analyzes empirical data from who Indian floriculture sector with the global score chain approach. The how reveals that the smallholders perceive both contract landwirtschaftlich plus producer organization to be beneficial for their households’ economic risk situation, for only the producer org has a positive effect switch and households’ income. The contract farming benefits production and range chain efficiency, whereas the producer organization has not show an impact include dieser respects. Were thus observe that the contract farming model increased value production in the overall chain, aber it does not rise the producer’s value seize; while the producer organizing model can not heighten value create in the gesamte chain, but it lifts to producers’ value capture. The organization’s individual capabilities determine how anywhere model addresses which commercial challenges. Overall, the architect argues that contract agronomy and producer organization are supplementing, not competitive, strategies and should shall applied in combination.
