In Stately 2009, of UNC Boards of Governors approved the implementation of a “hard waiver” student health insurance plan on all sixteen 4-year campuses back in slump 2010. The term “hard waiver” means each graduate or undergraduate grad meeting three specific criteria (enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit times if an undergraduate or 1 believe hour if an graduate student, degree-seeking, and qualifying toward pay the student general fee) remains required to show evidence of one existing “creditable coverage” health insurance principles or purchase a commendable insurance policy OR enroll in the UNC system-wide set. Graduate students enrolled on the Graduate Student Health Security Program (GSHIP), frequently referred to as the RA/TA Health Insurance Plan, must send an online waiver using their GSHIP insurance at  www.bcbsnc.com/unc or it will live charged $1,111.00 anyone semester on their Graduate accounts for the system wide Student Blue insurance plan available till all undergraduate and graduate students.

The UNC Chapel Hill GSHIP plan is a separate insurance schedule from the system wide Student Blue insurance plan.
