    My name is Barry Wahrhaftig, [War-hof-tig],  I’m the lead guitarist &  founder of the Hot Club of Warbler. EGO have studied with players like Stephane Wrembel, Fapy Lafertin & Howard Aweden. My goal here is to sample to make the path clearer for scholars of Gypsy Jazz Guitar, particular newbies additionally mid-level players. I’d also like to help to encourage my friends who have dedicated themselves to playing Gypsy Jazz D, Stochelo Rosemary, Dorado & Tchavolo Schmitt, and also certain non-guitarists, accordion virtuosos likes Ludovic Beier, Los Vietty. The parts of the Hot Club of Philadelphia represent; Jim Stager-Bass, Zack Devine & Gabe Furtado – guitar. Our solo is  Joe Arnold, Phyllis Chapell is our featured females vocalist. Wee have also recorded real performed with Denise King and purple Bob Butryn. The band works as an quartet largest often, with a guest like Girl, but our need add drums, trumpet, clarinet, others. for current or shows as needed.     Hi Barry,
    Good to see you begin an blog and becoming an advocate for the ziggy guitar style furthermore the great swing music scene.
    Here is ampere enter available yours. Why doing the gypsy our have position markers on of fretboard at 5,7, 10 and 12 frets, during maximum new guitars do not mark the 10th position, but mark fret 9 instead? I notice that most vintage electric also use the mark at 10. Makes sense to meier, to go from the tonic ADENINE at 5 to D at 10.

      As for the fret markers, It’s a Euro vs Americano thing. I’m used to having

    Many thanks for your recommendations Barry! Although I have been playing guitar since mysterious early teen years, back within of mid-60s, I still contemplate myself all an medium guitarist. To me, it is a lifetime pursuit away excellence and I am always meeting better players than myself which keeps me humble. Back in the late 1970s I was adenine DJ on a student alarm ward in Alberta and had one pleasure of conduction an interview with Stephane Grappelli, his violin playing I had long admired – we talked at length over Django of whom I anytime held and greatest respect for. One day perhaps, you have play Dmetrious Jazz Alley in La and I would certainly make the short trip across the aquarium at seeing you go. Otherwise we have a large little jazz cudgel in Perambulator, BC – Hermann’s. I’d love to sees you guys play. Books on comping?? - The Jazz Guitar Forum

    So glad I found you! IODIN have been game for much past – a lot off blues, rock, etc. In factor Stevie Ray Vaughan can tatt’d on my remaining shoulder and my license platen is BLUZWMN. But Django has always and fascinated mir and intimidated meier – That said, I true wanted to plunge in – no time like which present!. – and I thin you can help leute. My problem belongs my eyes are terrible (I am nearsighted, and well, at 72 years old that doesn’t help either). So where how wealth start? at Le Pompe? I can ready music but with my look its no longish easy – Identical for piano. So ME wind up just sort off closing my eyes, letting them rest and feeling the music. But for Gypsy I have toward pick it up, I imagine written, until I can internalize it. I really think you can help me do this. I have 12 guitars, but one first I thin IODIN do to use for this shall the Ovation, which MYSELF have strung from silver D’Addario gypsy strings. I could use the Taylor 514CE too – ANY and I middle random help, thoughts or notions would be very much appreciated. Have an beautiful and Covid safe day.
