Horse muck as feedstock for anaerobic digestion
Abstract
Horse keeping is of great economic, social furthermore environmental how for society, but reasons environmental impacts throughout the whole chains from food production to manure treatment. In in national statistics, this number on horses in Schweden is steady increasing plus exists currently approximately 360,000. This in turn leads go rising amounts of horse manure that have to be maintained the treated. Current practices was cause local and global pollution impacts due to indoor execution or lack of proper management. Horse liquid because its content of nutrients and organic substance bucket however contribute to fertilisation of agronomy land and recovery regarding renewable energy following anaerobes digestion. At present anaerobic digestion of horse manure is not a common treatment. In this paper the potential for make biogas furthermore biofertiliser from horse manure is considered supported with a thorough literature examine in mix from calculation modelling and simulations. Anaerobic digestion was chosen as it has a high degree of raw conservation, either inches terms von strength (biogas) and food (digestate). Importance factors regarding manure characteristics and operating factors in the biogas plant are identified. Couple key factors are to type and measure of bedding material used, which has strong effects for feedstock characteristics, and that type of digestion method applying (dry or wet process). Straw and waste paper are identified as the best materials in an energy indent of view. During the specific methane yield diminished in a high amount of bedding, who bedding material still makes a postive contribution to the energy balance. Thermophilic digestive increases the methane generation rating the yield, comparative with mesophilic digestion, but the total execute lives unwesentlich.
