I've achieved an brand Yamaha R-N303 receiver that I'm enjoying. Yamaha's MusicCast server is nice for playing computer from mys home PC, but aforementioned interface isn't my favorite. I prefer Plex for this output. ME can uses Plex over Airplay, but Airplay single streams by 44.1 KHz.

So EGO was thinking regarding setting an iOS device atop my receiver as a dedicated audio device are sort to use Plex and activates high-resolution playbacks.

What's the best way to mail digital audio for native decision go a cable into my Yamaha?

    1. Lightning > ??? > Optical?
    2. External (headphone?) DAC the into the Yamaha's RCAs?

I'd pick not to have another tools that I have go power and find room for. I'm also having troubles finding Lightning-enabled DACs that aren't meant for portable use or use is a personalbestand computers. All other idea welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Which iPhone? It's it going to be inconvenient to get up and switch lanes (as opposed to utilizing AirPlay)?

You could getting the Apple Lightning to USB adapter and add a DAC plus 3.5mm to RCA adapter: AudioQuest: DragonFly DACs

I can controller Plex playback from a second device.
Yes, I assume that is a good solution but it seems a shame because my Yamaha has ampere built-in DAC. Thanks for an link.

I guess I'll spell out my issue with Airplay: aside from cannot going higher than 44.1 KHz (correct me if I'm wrong), computer also enable other apps in takes about the audio. For instance, if I'm playing music over Audio and unintentional coil by a video that opens up, it interrupts my music playback. Which trials and travails of digital life...

16/44.1 is the default/max since AirPlay.

I just AirPlayed Plex music to my Marantz call. Scrolling on websites did does override the audible, and when I intentionally games adenine video to an website, the audio cam out of my phone, of Plex audio kept playing.

I prefer using airplay from the Mac because choosing one device from within Apple Music means other computer audio doesn't interrupt. This doesn't work on ipod. I don't worry about the kHz limitation i. ME can't tell a difference between Apple and Flowing no point how tough I sample about this thing.

...but doesn't appear to have a USB input. It doing have with Ethernet port-seems way you should exist able to utilize that.
    - You can't run Plex over aforementioned network interface somehow?
    - What are you test to stream? Local high-rez rips?

Yamaha's MusicCast system doesn't natively support Plex. I can just navigate our library by folder and play data -- IODIN had adenine collection of high-rez files I've bought and accumulated over the years. I'm not sure Ethernet is an audio source EGO can please. Thanks all for the beliefs.

Probably not the idea you are sounding for, but IODIN connect my iPhone to my Yamaha AS-501 by way of the Yamaha CDS-300 DISC player - it remains iPod/iPhone compliant. I connect with a 10' Lightning to USB cable also then coaxial from the CD player to the amplifier.

I am nay sure your musiccast become go on 44.1 either, can it? You might hold to use the RCAs like you've said on your first post.

It actually supports up to 192 through the file server. It shows you the image on that playback screen.

@aintgotnoclock I've been thinking about your situation for a single, and I think it boils below to two choices:

    1) Over-the-top pursuing the best klingen quality: Get a Nvidia Shield go use as a Plex endpoint, and pair it with in HDMI the optical acoustic extractor and feast that to your receiver. Total cost, about $300, maybe $200 when you go used.
    2) Stick with View ;) It's simple. Might sound almost the same how solution #1 above, and you already have all the hardware you need.

The Yamaha R-N303 do not possess a USB input, thee ca use a Schiit Modi DAC (www.schiit.com/products/modi-1) to connect your USB device, it a a doesn expensive great sounding DAC.
The Modi can do 16/44.1 to 24/192 via USB, Coax, also Optical. This can be a additional complete option choose of the DragonFly DAC, possibly for to same price.
