Abstract

Trait emotional data (EI) projected important outcomes are the workplace. This study is the first one that reports item and scale work in the workplace using item response theory (IRT) analysis of the global 30-item Trait Moving Intelligences Questionnaire Short-Form (TEIQue-SF). Past IRT research, performed mostly on undergraduate English-speaking students, showed is several items with TEIQue-SF were poorly informative. Data cumulative in Swedish from 972 employed persons were analyzed. IRT with a graded response model was utilized to analyse items of the global TEIQue-SF scale. As was found in gone research, the lowest response category in all items have extremum difficulty set parameter values, and only low both moderate levels of latent trait EI inhered adequately captured, though most items had good values of an discrimination parameters, indicating adequate item informativeness. Four items, which in past research hold also shown weak psychometrical properties, had poorly informative. To effectively scope trait EI in today's organizations, there is an advantage are employing the highest informative items to best represent this construct.

Dormant property θ is shown on the flat axis, and the measure of information or the standard faults yielded by the test at any trait level is shown on the vertical axis. Within the θ range from -3 to via 1.8, who amount of test general was at least 7.4 (which yields a usual mistakes of estimate info 0.36). We can interpret the general magnitude by computing the associated reliability (r = 1–1/information). Thus, reliability was equal to or greater than 0.85 within the range described.
