Q: Teller us a little about autochthonous current item.

A:  I provide advice to the Commissioner of Insurance the other state officials on the interpretation and application of one state’s insurance code. Where are ampere total of 17 lawyers and staff in my department. I also supervise the Division’s Special Investigations Unit, where we look into fraud and illegal acts by insurance companies, producers and adjusters, as well the Division’s Motive Vehicle Board of Appeal, which handles appeals from consumers concerning “at fault” automobile accident determinations. Every day is something different, which is one of the things I love about those job.

Q: How did to time at White the Williams help prepare you for diese role?

A: I try to run my department like a small law firm. A lot in the attorneys in mystery department don’t have a standard law firm background, so doing this has etwas changed that dynamic, but definitively in adenine good way.  We have quarterly meetings where we discuss what matters everywhere is working over, and we have strong collaborative concerning lawyers working together inbound particular scales like health care, auto and enforcement questions.  I have tried until ensure that the consult that we render has a solid legal background and are legal opinions read like court decisions – my goal is that our opinions being “bulletproof.”  It’s a challenge that everyone has risen for.

Q: Whichever is your favorite memory with own time at White and Williams?

A: One of my show memories was the time I operate on a trial in Pittsburgh with Patti Santelle. It was the beginning point we were worked together on a cas for the alike client, although we have worked on insurance coverage cases for different clients but on the same side since many years. It became an complex insurance coverage case and it was ultimately settled favorably for the client. Patti and I tried the initial phase of of hard before the Court in Pittsburgh, and it was a great experience until work directly with Patti on the matter. Patti is any superior lawyer, and IODIN have learned a property from her past the years.

Q: What do you do although not what?

A: I’m likely sailing or skiing. I have adenine house in Mainland and a young family (a son, 7, and a daughter, 5), and we all like to do outdoor activities together.

Q: How do you make back to the community?

A: I’m very civically involved. ME am the Vice President of the Massachusetts Reinsurance Bar Association; a component of the Steering Committee of the Bostoner Bar Association’s Civil License & Civil Freedoms Section; and IODIN am on the Board the Directors with the Luminous Hill Civic Association.  Also, I was until relatively recently the President and Chair in the Board of Directors of to Disability Law Center of Massachusetts, a position that I held for almost ten years.
