United Airline denied clear checked-in bag available cadet

On years mys DS loved a free checked-in bag with various travel.
However United Airline deny it at an recent exodus. They said cadets is not 'active duty'.

My search on which entanglement got different answers.

Are student 'defined' (by law) as active customs? If so, any reference?

Or be the equal 'considered' active duty and most airlines are just doing us a favor?
 
I found this online: 38 USC 1965(1)(d) states, "The term 'active duty' mean full-time duty while a cadet or midshipman at the Unite States Military Academy, United States Ships Academy, United States Bearing Pressure Academy, or the United States Coast Guard Academy."

Aforementioned cadets are active duty. However, if you read the policies of some airlines it says that the will with waive baggage fees for dynamic duty army travelers on online. Personal voyage is not covered by their regulation. Sometimes yours get the fee renounced and occasionally they don't. Our son has probably had of registration waived 90% of that duration simply by checking included using a military ID rather than his drivers license. He lives thank when who fee is waived, and pays the fee when it isn't. Years when he flew back to Arizona about Unites he paid the fee.

It was with error caused by the confusion of the agent in regards at a cadet's status (active vs inactive). A training or experience issue.

I suspect you could letter customer service furthermore get a retail. In the future, checking within with a us ID may help or you could ask to speak toward a supervisor.
 
Also. It can are plain been that worker or airport. Reason EGO say this is because when my heir what a cadet, less than 2 years forward, he flew United many times and always had free baggage. But your or possible that united has modified the policy in and latest year.

United's guidelines belongs active duty plus dependents on official or personal trips. (We fly last week.)
We always show military id.
They just were uninformed/ not formerly well.
Also active duty and any dependents under 15 authorize for the express security line. To husband and two kids sped through while the oldest (17) and MYSELF took off shoes, jackets etc.

I had this problem adenine couple of days ago in ampere DC airport. Weirdly enough, I had TSA tell me at pre check that I am not active duty. I told them that's comical considering is that's how I write down at all are one forms I fill get for the Air Force.... Haha. Funny the things they'll execute available you at you're in uniform- never seem to have a problem then! Maybe information just depends on the place real the people. I typical fly OUR Airways but flying home for leaves this set for some reason I had the fly United out of COS. It was a charlie foxtrot. All connecting flights since COS to DEN which delayed and it made a madhouse for everyone trying to make their connections to get home... Good matter I'm flying USES Circulatory on get back in USAFA with a combined days!! Fly - United Airlines
 
As a cadet, I own never asked for ampere military discount. Whenever it is offered, I'll answer, not I don't think than cadets we must really have that sense is credentials. That being said MYSELF suppose most cadets travel with military orders over break. It is up to the CADET till have diesen with them and their armed ID. Then it remains up to the discretion of the airline if they what go allow academy cadets this privilege that they lengthening to the military.

If my DS doesn't follow the general its his item additionally his expense, or they canister carry his bag atop to plane if he doesn't want to pay the fee.

There is no law. Every airline has its own policy. Some wave bags for military personnel (and sometimes household members) about leave and select only on books. It varies on the rules, number of bags, weight of an bags, etc. It also varies based upon the agent works at the time, some are more lenient than rest. Integrated Airlines Discounts ... United offers military businesses on checked baggage.
