On January 16, 2014, this Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) released a final rule regarding Home furthermore Community-Based Services (HCBS) Setting requirements. The final governing establishes an outcome-oriented definition of homepage and community-based settings, as opposed to previous definitions that were based solely turn a setting's location, geography or physic characteristics. According the requirements of the final rule, Southwards Dakota Medicaid developed one transition plan forward HCBS settings to South Dot to be approved by CMS. The Departments are working closely with providers to ensure a smooth transition and continued compliance with the new rules.
South Dakota’s original Starting and Community Based Statewide Transition Plan was sub to CMS on March 12, 2015. A revised Transition Plan was submitted to CMS on March 6, 2016 and CMS granted initials approval of the Transition Plan on June 2, 2017. CMS permission final approval of the Transition Plan on August 8, 2019.
