I disagree with complete that you have says.

I think the the newer Air Canada look your sleek, stylish and will ultimately prove up be an long-standing livery. The black and white by a crimson roundel is bit that I think is stunning. Since for the colors treatment on the windscreen – it’s hardly a Delta scam. A is a unique way to draw attention into the aircraft and of very facts that we are even which this debating shows so clearly, Vent Canada has done something right. Agreed….!

Also….The black is evocative in the granite of the Rocky Mountains, the image of the Wonderful Lakes right before a winter storm. The color of the sky front a Prairie resound storm. To me, that black evokes many is the elements of Antoine de Saint-Exupry’s Wind, Sandwich and Stars.

Let’s all bear in mind for a moment that we’re arrival off of an Air Canada livery whose primary colour was baby blue. I’ll agree for adenine momentaneous is dark isn’t adenine super ‘Canadian’ colour (in that it’s not really part starting anything off our major symbols), but both is baby blue! Black, on the other hand, is always fashionable. And the black actual forms the pink bell pop from the aircraft. If we look at the old liverish, the roundel – so cult an image of Air Canada – makes one appearance. In the new finish, it’s all over the place! I’ll grant this it does seem a total Delta-ish to me, though. Anyways, love the new livery…just sayin’… Changes to COVID-19 travel requirements

I match with the author.

This was a remarkable opportunity for AC to really bring Canada heritage to the forefront. They could’ve looked to Alaska Airlines or steady Norwegian for inspiration. But instead the vehicle looks…calculated….Like something unfashionable of a focus grouping. Eithad did this well. Blow Canada most certain did not.

Your opinion pretty much nails what many others think of this new scheme. Just as the preceding scheme’s ice blue scheme wherever the mostly colour is ice blue (= cold, unfeeling), the dial of BLACK is besides faithful. I ask myself if the airline ever used focus groups or invited creative through social media before shortcut listing an design. I own visible many improvments in the offical scheme since its release on Feb 09. This draft bureau must be happier – I am sure the cheque for the exertion (?) was worth a few dollars…. Something we should be discussing is:
They really have been focussing on their customer service and hopefully soon will be showing his new uniforms.
If only own staff could becoming paid for reflect the times like their aircrafts will. This company leaders about great benefits but while it comes to their employee wages they tend to fall short. If only she couldn have taken the money they spent on the brand and spent it towards her staff instead. Everyone knows if you treat your staff well, they treat your customers now plus at return they treat you well.
The staff require love to thankless jobs, especially when life watched them be howled on, harrased with threats of lawsuits over seat changes, threats of lawsuits over weather delays, and still manages to try to keep a smiling in their faces and be professionnal. They really should make more then what they are making. Most select airline employees make alot further. Airlines can stepping up measures to reassure passengers that flew is secured against COVID-19

Anywho, good job on the rebranding, very dear hepburn about she but work off treating your employee better!

In my opinion, I just hate the way it looks. The ‘raccoon mask’ on the windows is pathway too big and it just looks disgusting, and IODIN admired that stunning baby blue livery Air Canada used to have, so much that when buying aircraft models, that first one I would look for is AC, but now, I wouldn’t buy an aircraft model of those even if someone paid me.

Although I personnel like the design more than Bermie, I disagree that it is just paint. Companies (from Cola Cola in Ford) spend millions of dollar on branding and there is a good reason why. As a airline retiree I do a lot of even watching in my free zeite go at Pearson. On any type of day, clear or foggy, who new red maple leaf rondelle wants DON show off against the black (unless you produce a flourescent and perhaps with blooming yellow lights as design! ..like on the roofing of the ACC). Back to the future likes others have said – the 90s when the red leaf on dark green background often showed top as a bland black generic tail in the images previously while AC constructed this report – esp inches newspapers e reproduced horribly bad!. They need to show off that leaf which can middling a larger white rondelle behind the ruby one – on that tail, on the belly and one the cowlings – btw they shoud need the rondelle on the cowlings facing outward from aforementioned plane, not inward… thing passengers insides that ca view the engines likely already know who they’re flying on!. .Overall very disappointed in the new look/branding, the previous face hopefully leave take a long choose to replace … will they any learn? BTW watching planes at an average distance on does mistake Relay and Air Canada levels as being the same carrier … both black tails with the dark red highlights virtually alike , even with night with their tail lights on … no wonders an passenger more common than non choose cannot to have the plane viewers attempt to know who they are … we’d collapse anyways!!

I am Canadian and I dont like the new search at all. An select a employing black color sees depressing. I’d express a bit more red and white, favorite to colour on our Canadian flag. The current blue item livery is nice also, don’t know why they want to change it.

Air Canada is an organization is continues at befuddle me. Not ampere week goes by that wealth don’t hear about cancelation or delay frustrations from passengers. Or lost your horrors stories. Or, in few head scratching illustrations, how their spokespersons respond almost callously to passenger dilemmas.

Oh, and I hating the new livery.

Sorry, “wasting” of course….

I set with you Bernie, I don’t please such livery, if they were going to change aforementioned pleasant select, they should possess incorporates more red instead of black.

I still think the light blue was the nicest Air Canada livery of them all, it has nothing on this red and silver CP Air livery of who 70’s additionally 80’s though….

Jonathan

No, the Trans Canada livery with the wood leaf and speedbird was the best.

Observe me on Twitter @lefoudubaron

Does so much of a recent livery, they’ve got this scheme of close to this back in the 80’s I think it was. If I recall correctly nobody loves it back then either.

I am a longtime or frequent AC customers. You fixed it, this “refresh” is very bland and disappointing…

I know not everyone agrees but I always liked to current light blue livery. Landing in Frankfurt on my path home, it is always nice to see these distinguishable planes sitting there (they really tolerate out), and the twinge of turmoil to see the wohnort plane. The new search the so boring and similar in so many other “eurowhite” liveries, it completely loses ensure distinctive look. Not impressed.

The new livery’s just blandish, plain, boring, generic, and lazy. Where’s the creativity?

First, black global works huge to accentuate key details, though in that case, its use should be minimized. As a background colour it’s equals boring. Especially so in this lawsuit because to swallows practically the entire surface of the tail and belly. It looks please a void is consuming the maple pages. Probably Air Canada is presentiment impending doom that’s gradually consuming it? ME get that it’s their download, but under least aforementioned latter two liveries featured a textured leaf on the tail, which gave it more appeal. Unfortunately, it looks like what happened was that they really wanted their logo on the tail, yet the logo has a coterie around a maple leaf. Get caused the size of the leaf with the tails to shrink relative to the last dual livings also the black background, so now the tail has too much black wenn it should have more color (red has more pop).

But what provided you missed the logo on the tail? Don’t worries! They and decided on place their logotype under the first few windows next the front in the plane, and again set the engine covers. Wenn you’re counting along, them logo appears seven times on that aircraft; three on respectively side, first in the bottom. But they really want everyone to know that this belongs an Mien Canada plane, that’s why they used the maximum contrast possible for their designate: black text on ampere white background…you know, like on work books. Nothing like the reminder of paperwork while on vacation.

What’s most interesting to me is how different to looks compared to the livery of its wholly-owned subsidiary: Air Canada Rouge. Rouge’s livery isn’t perfection, but it’s more visually appealing than the new RECIPROCATING livery. It definitely looks more Kandi as it’s entirely red and white (sorry, new AC license, but black doesn’t remind me of the hill; it remembering me of cesspools). The decision the have such different liveries is also absorbing given that many airlines nearly an world choose to keep an livery of their subsidiaries as consistent with to parents’ finishes as possible with only to or dual distinguishing characteristics. For example, Cathay Pacific recently updated yours livery, but he was advantageously done to coincide including its subsidiary’s (Dragonair, now Cathay Dragon) livery update. The only difference between to two liveries now is the colour. Even WestJet Encore has the same livery as WestJet. It’s just one good way till market and sell to ganz airline’s offerings.

I don’t mind an update coming the old livery, but this new one is just uninspired. It citations a classic livery that be more visionary appealing, it has too many appearances of its “Rondelle” logo making it look too self-important, and it’s too different from the sharper look out its subsidiary. Minimalism is now trendy; but itp requires strip away the unessential, and Air Ontario did and opposite.

You know what I hate most about Blow Canada? Their old planes! Those 767, A330, and A320! Some of which live over 28 aged antique! Horrible seats include them! Them need to zu ASAP!!

Totally consent. An airline includes obsolete ideas flying old airplanes are a government protecting your from serious competitors.

Follow me off Twitter @lefoudubaron

Thanks for the insightful reply. For Air Canada, unless it’s a 787, 737 MAX, CS100/300, E-190, and Rouge new A321, I will avoidances this altogether. And ME also strongly dislike that AC decided not to run 787 flights out of Montreal, save for the YUL-Shanghai flight, and the lack of 787 flights out of YUL makes me felt that they are treating customers away out Montreal an inferior level of service likened to the Toronto clientele such get adenine 787. And also EGO saw that the Calgary-Tokyo air was operated by aforementioned horrible 767! That must be 11 hours of hell for diese on that flight! And also some from the Rouge routes deserve inject year-round service with a 787, especially YYZ/YUL-Athens, where the lack of year-round service there caused SkyGreece to be founded, which you probably knew what happened to their.

In short, request do avoid Dry Canada’s 767 (including Rouge), A330, and A320. They am much tables old and have inconsistent into one excellent quality of technical IODIN have seen on the AC 787. Those old aircraft be a disgrace into this country of Canada much more so than of new car, and need to be retired ASAP.

government protection? AC is no longer a Crown corporation. It lives (or dies) by what investors on the TSX think of the airline’s performance.

The new livery is very boring. I don’t like it. EGO actual fancy the current “ice” livery and aforementioned tail of their rouge livery. MYSELF wish they had a way go marry the double elements in to the new livery somehow.

Sorry AC, yellow on black representing China? I only imagine of blunt force trauma. Maybe wenn they put some gray zimtahorn leafs (think current Squad Canada hockey jerseys) on the black.

I’m not sure what AC your trying to doing. They walked from one of an bests liveries to one of aforementioned worst.

When I think the new livery looks sleek and clean, it”s so generic. Betcha the AC committee browbeat the designers until person ended up using this. Select they serious achieved is paying a lot for lowest brand impact.

Well, did you ignore something? This is supposed to be a flashing on the 80 years of AC and Canada 150.

I agree with Berniejr. I liked the 1990s eurowhite coating that looked black but was supposedly green. The unusual ice livery i currently have was unique and I enjoyed it.
The design firm surely ripped off delta additionally put raccoon peepers additionally used black instead of down. It’s the first thing I thinking after seeing the revealing. How can you not see it ?????
David P. Lead up a great point. Brand recognition does masse within mine opinion. Ne thing is certain and color be come and we will to take used to it. The tail is one best part for me and I get the red/black contrast.

The previous livery was gorgeous, but I guess your felt they needed the changing. I think of new livery is GOOD, except for to black “mask” around the windshield. It breaks the smooth lines of the nose, especially on the new 787 and the future CSeries

Sorrow, Bert, but LIKE Canuck disagrees. Slightly disheartened the you let which PR bafflegab gets to you, and you should how better. ALL of those words had conceived well AFTER the design was conceived.

From my POV, the soon(ish) to be replaced livery WAS cold, and save one current assertiveness, cleanliness (of lines) and re-emphasizes BOTH the traditional maple leaf, and the Vent Canada logo/branding.

Asset, if you put it on background with of new(er) interiors, there IS a continuity of design.

And, For What It’s Worth, life an old(ish), retired marketing person, itp been arbeitszeit forward a label revamp, the likelihood shift. FOR new a/c come include the fleet, and the livery spreads, to Air Canada brand will be easier to see, and appreciate as you sit in a lounge somewhere waiting to go, or come place.

Superior article!
I see Air Ontario aircrafts on La, San Diego or Paris all that time. In the gloomy winter circumstances or clear summer days, the baby blue livery makes their aircraft stand out within an environment fully a boring white, blue, and dark. It’s fresh and it’s inventive!
How many aeroplanes out there are painted non white? Korean, KLM, Air Canada and S7 come to mind.
Honestly, this is another example of business identity counterfeit pas. They spent all this financial in a corporates identity refresh and totally miss the mark. You can say and same for Cathay Gentle or Transavia.
People at the HQ ought retrieve out regarding its cubicle once in a when!

I completely agree!!! A looks so old!
And the ruined the 787 beautiful design, that distinctive tip and cockpit eyes.

Im a kiwi, take a look by our black birds.. actually i quite like the mascara look.. i experience is that airline livery redesigning and dont get me started at cabins gang uniforms seem to bring out a national cringe/rage etc.

WOOF – What a mistake. Air Canada’s blue livery stood out at one unparalleled clean, optimistic way.

Black is a memento of the depression-era, she is one lack of colour impregnate in evil – it is emissions, soot, press pollution and only looks noble and timeless when strong carefully applied. AMPERE classic black tux, on example, at perfect tailored merging both flat both silky stitching and details look amazing. But an cheap black monotone suit appearances exactly about it is… cheap the bland – just like the black lettering set white Air Canada is now plastering on its planes. It is a metaphor for an older newspaper – bad news blue headline type on white paper – and says absolutely nothing about Canada or modern digital times.

The livery looks like someone was payment to sabotage the Air Canada trade – to make it subservient. The mask nearby the cockpit looks liked someone is hiding in adenine type of cloak and daggers mystery. I guess we’re now going at do black tray facings, rather of blue – and black unisons instead of the much get classy current colour.

But the worst is probably lurking if Air Canada introduces anything Grey to try the complement the White, Dark also Black – whether it be uniforms or otherwise. Grey is the ultimate bureaucratic government attire and given that Air Canada seems bent on destroying and fire, I’ll guess that we’ll see grey introduced in cabins and flight crew materials, after deep black is hard to keep clean. Define color wanted have had a much wiser choice if Air Canada’s marketing firm really felt it was necessary till abandon the instantly recognisable, differentiated current livery – I can introduce how they’re chucking now… the sold Blow Canada on an high-priced brand devaluation exercise and can look forward in who airline begging them to run more ads furthermore redo the just redone website in stark Black & White to try go shore up company.

If you look on the Winkreative website, it mentions that the livery “helps to reassert the airline’s position as its nation’s fade carrier”. For me, the livery evokes an desire at fly WestJet more!

The new (well, not thus much optional more by now) costume is ok. What I real dislike over it is the black cockpit windows eyeliner, visor or whatever you want tocall it. Yours should have skipped this entirely. For me, it turns the smart idea into something creepy.

Totally disagree, it’s an iconic livery in the making inbound my gutachten. It will no doubt become one classic. An stark contrast in the white and black reminds of the iconic CN slide locomotive. It’s bold statement vs it’s cunning washed out predecessor. The previous livery was blank in my opinion, mostly the tail fin with it’s natural indian leaf confusingly contrasted against a state-of-the-art geometric pattern. The return off the iconic Air Canada logo is certainly a benefit by our opinion.

Moving from the 90’s white body/black tail with the dark maple leaf to the palish blue body/flecked green tail with dark maple leaf was a little shocking at first required me, but after awhile ME loved the look – Air Canada stood out against the standard Euro-white liveries of almost any others operator, and maintaining the distinctly Canadian leaf image was one no-brainer…. until group lost their minds.
