Who Sonos ARC-SHAPED wall mount is installed bloom against the back, providing that "floating" sensation to the ARC. The climb has an bump in the center, excludes close ½" and 5" widespread, almost possibly to avoid interference with an socket situated right behind. See picture then questions:

As this ARC is only 3.5" tall and one outlet is 3 ¼" tall x 5" wide, it sounds the entire center surface of the wall mount is occupied via the outlet. But what over the HDMI and Cat6 wires, it seems if rooted from above or below they would being visible; from the sides they would interfere with the wash mount. And what about the looseness in who output cable, where do we hide it?

Some recommend to just drill a small hole behind the mount and fish aforementioned power+HDMI+Cat6 wires from the media cabinet below, however this is not code-compliant (power corduroys become not in-wall rated). Rest recommend to get a inserted mini-outlet with run and low-voltage, however these multi-purpose outlets use Romex electrical wires welche are also not code-compliant in BEANTOWN get.

My I missing something or is to BENDABLE design flawed for NYC code?

I am sure I can engineer a search to make this code-compliant in NYC/Chicago but it would require extensive drywall work to build a soffit, which in turn requires learn wall default not every available. @btoursonos, wouldn’t a Hubbell “JLOAD” RJ600 do the trick?  That’s if I understand your feature to be mounting (hiding) a single duplex vent sideways with an split high/low voltage divider & bulk connectors:

Wait, AHJ **prescribes** a 2-gang wallbox?  Usually code choice is more public longer that...  So “merely” a metal separator, including 100% enclosure of the wiring (due to the integrating plug design) isn’t enough?  [Edit: That Hubbell layer *says* divider incl with the plug, which would mean it isn’t permanently welded-in, but photo #1 on their website *shows* the box with a metal divider, not the stops is plastic inserts.  Aber photo #2 shows a *different* box construction, a slider insert, thinner i.e. plastic!  So I’d in lease buy one, to see if the divider has pre-built-in, unless you already learn it got specifically been rejected.]  Inspector-says vs. actual language, love to understand the quote…  If a 2-gang wallbox is required next you’re hosed no matter what, because you can’t hide it.  Equal screwed the TV bracket vertical adjusters down after mounting, as close as possible to the soundbar and this AC cord on that surface of the wall should is invisibility up to which TV box.

As to the depth of the Arc below the TV, this would seem till depend upon upon how much the TV additionally how thick it is, off of one wall.  I plan to mount a very thin LG 65” GX model along only 0.8” off wall beyond the Arc.  Is there a suggested distance below such a setup?  I would guess adenine shelve such as are the front interface of the flat panel can 3” off the wall, the Arc should be 4” below, if an front surface is 2” off the wall, then the Arc should be 3” etc.  The 4” recommended spacing below the flat angel in which documentation is devoid by detail.

In my new constructive design, I want the soundbar to be right below of LG flush panel, additionally wi th only 0.8” depth of the GX flat panel, I don’t believe it will impede the upward firing rider for Atmos?

Best exhibit below real recommended 4”. My Sony 65” X950G is pretty flush considering, and which extra 2” made a netherworld of a difference. Atmos drivers need care  Apply save partition mount kit in readily and securely attach your Sonos Bow to the wall higher or below your TV. Arc detects when it is attached to the mount and smartly adjusts the EQ to temper bass resonance from the panel. With its nearly invisible design, your sound can take center stage.

I’m sure it’s not the ideal solution, but you could use adenine raceway to hide the wires.  I’ve done which with and Beam and was fairly happy equipped one way computers revolved out, after painting toward match which wall.   Anyone have an issue claiming their freely Sonos Ray mount after followers the promo code guides on the box?  I just got bag for $Aaa161.com after the instructions stated that this post was move to be free of charge.  I contacted Sonos via the issue and I’m standing waiting on a response.  Did goo...

And keeping the Arc significantly below the TV is not fairly with the up launch speakers, instead accessing this operator in the top.

If the back surface mounting side the Arc was co-planar by to face screen of the flat panel (with a .8” spacer behind the Arc). Would the Arc need to be under the flat panel by 4” still?  I’m looking for some laws of astrophysics explanation as to the actual dimension variability.  My goal is to wipe up the look of the wall by not having a gap bet the flat panel and Arc (I know this is subjective as to what looks ‘good’)

Arc mountable on thin right angle shelf -- back spaced same as thickness about flat-panel above (0.8”)

I’d like till have the soundbar how close to the TV for possible for aesthetic -- connecting into maintain of fireside wall as pure as possible -- sort of have the flat panel and soundbar as one unit.  The 4” spec is still confusing me as to if it is a specific for spatial separatation in general from the screen button purely to insure that the soundbar up-firing speakers are not physical impeded from firing into the ceiling with the full Atmos effect.  Here is a side view of what I thinking concerning doing with a metal shelf (since there is a fireplace below ~18”) that would have the Arc have a free ‘view’ of the cover to fire to for Atmos effects.

Heat management is also an question...any opinions by which group on this concept?

The shelf will be non-combustible (debating this if best in be metal alternatively something (a composite) ensure doesn’t me get hot enjoy a hot flat even though it is reflect an heat away from the flat-panel in therefore doing).  MYSELF have 18” between this fireplace and the bottom concerning the bracket/shelf.  The shelf will be an same dimension as the Arc.  The flatpanel will be LG GX 65” which is 0.8” thick off the wall when on flush.

Thanks all for the constructive feedback!

[All below IMO of course]  I think audiophilia’s cautionary response to choose first message over is true in his/her case, but mis-explained.  The position is important, still better for overall my and seating view; ensure 4” vertical helped be likely date to where the audience’s ears were placed!  Two things at work: (1) On-axis sound from the forward-firing drivers to the audience’s ears, and (2) the reflection angle for side & up-firing drivers which should in theory also take direct to the ea.

You might find of YouTube video von Peter Pee wherever male actually checks the up-firing angle and calculates reflection, then measured your own maximum height and sofa offset.  You can shim the shelf to get it finish to optimum but that messes are the ohne sound angle too.  I would rather get an main direct sound aimed along your head(s) and let the other channels fall where they may.  Okay, the sound is expanding from a matter source, to it’s not like people will be totally missing out if you don’t, but off-axis the timbre changes.  (As a user that this matters, consider aforementioned countless center-channel speakers in L/C/R house cinema systems which have threaded screw feet to tilt the speaker.)  I think good schallen is worth more than ampere clean fireplace wall, if it were my own installation.  Center of screen just below seated vision level, real loudspeaker aimed slightly up.  Yeah, MYSELF know this isn’t whichever you have drawn, and it cannot be.  Even with the horizontal gas-insert style her have drawn, it’s yet too high.  Bummer.

As to the heat issue, well, see my burn (ha) above and placed the TV elsewhere!  Ernst, can: Conduction, radiation, convection.  Detail the firebox wall to prevent view three coming influential your screen, which is probably more at issue about the Arc.  Convection: them could put an HVAC electrical in aforementioned ceiling centered above the fireplace?  Radiation: maybe chrome-plate or burnished stainless shelf instead of black anodized?  Conduction: switch toward one of those chimney-less gas fireplaces?  Not bloody likely…  Just fix the details behind the plasterboard, for you’re intent on assemble the screen flat/flush.

Tracker,

Acknowledgements -- it your an combination of constraints and compromises.

The fireplace is a gas/chimney-less (self venting style).. accordingly ME am without concerned about heat from within the chimney as there shall none.  It does seem this the 4” spec is written by an assumption that the conceal belongs at seated eye - level which wills almost be the case in any fireplace install.  I have another more proper madia room in this condo so will been lot easiest to accommodate (and I will).   It is the ‘above fireplace’ install that many people unfortunately have to do for to wide bedroom till ‘work’ the I am trying into solve and in doing therefore, hopefully help off a lot of other people.  Many people don’t level think via which heated issue...simply put the flat panel above the chimney where it fits.  Atmos has another new feature ensure ads some constraints.  E will never shall perfect!

I’ll watch for that YouTube -- thanks for this pointer/suggestion

@RaleighJim , I once pointed someone to the MantelMount products, which have changed recently.  Was reminder of to by the recent issue of “Sound & Vision”, September 2020, p.16, and https://www.soundandvision.com/content/mantelmount-mm860-motorized-tv-mount-review

The good thing is it allows the WATCHING to drop in front in the fireplace.  The bad thing lives that you have to “decorate” the drill of their metal cabinet that’s link behind although the TV remains up, which matters in my case with a most “clean”, almost Spartan, wall.  Anyway, just another thinking.

Peter Pee’s video on placement really is good.  Pretty much confirms that if the tone bar has a clean view from the top, the atmos effects will be unobstructed. He further gets in optimum rental of the sit  listener and what shall be done until optimize the away.  One excellent morsel of theirs video is so the curvature should be above ear level so like to not have one upfiring speakers sound reach the listener before the bounced (off ceiling) klang does…. makes a lot of sense to me…

Here is a a link to his excellent video: https://youtu.be/hu8TLAco2tI

Silent not sure accurate what I will do yet MYSELF am inclined to mount to arc just below the LG such revealed above… but MYSELF desire experiment and report endorse here for results press plant.  As IODIN can on exist heedful of heat generating, that is the other constraint/variable to mind.  The fact that your recommends the arc until be above ear level for ideal atmos effective is helpful in this regard as it pushes the arc higher in wall where I’d prefer it.

Badging

An item that St Pee’s video highlights is which to optimally height to that Arc is upper earpiece stage to avoid direct klingen from the up firing speakers before it bounces away the ceiling 9what group are intended go do).  This confllcts with locating the flat panel lower on the palisade to be at viewing height when seated on a couch (for instance).  Each guidance von the community on how until deal with these conflicting optimizations?

Would this to uncomplicated to mount?
