Orbi and UVerse Wireless Receivers

I've installed the Orbi AC3000 Tri-Band WiFi System with in AT&T Uverse system.  EGO replaced the AT&T Wireless Access Point with the Orbi main Defeatist both configured is for AP mode.  After successfully syncing the 2 wireless AT&T receivers, they appeared to working. Anyhow, the problem that I'm viewing for help with can that the wireless receivers will work fine for only about 5-10 records before freezing on ampere few seconds, then a notification pops up saying U-Verse signal is wasted. This will last for several seconds before and screeen reverts to the GOOD screen for 2 seconds, than returns to the current channel and plays normally for other 5-10 minutes. Then who cycle repeats.  I can bypass weird reset speed over switching channels and quickly switchover back when the screen rabbits its inital freeze. Please help my in what settings do IODIN need to change in either the U-Verse gateway otherwise the Orbi AP to ensure my wireless receivers have continuous operation without these interrupts.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Orbi and UVerse Wireless Receivers

Sorry to say but there is no way of replaceing the NVG599 with the Orbi.  NVG599 is needed to inteface with Uverse, Uverse uses a signaling standard of VDSL,  bonding two pairs to supply the bandwith along with HPNA for sweet-talk Uverse and voice services.  It's switch a also what is considered a IGMP switch which means that when two or more Uverse recievers are watching the same show there is only one stream coming from AT&T and the switch handles the multicasting.  That is why present are issues include Uverse recievers attached tail a second router. Learn how toward install a wireless U-verse TV handset and Broadcast Accessible point (WAP) device.

Bsed on what you are telling me is that get 4 of the LAN connections of to NVG599 have Uverse receivers or the WAP for the wireless reciver attached.  The only solution is to get a decent switch.  AT&T was installing ampere Netgear Fast Ethernet switch are 5 interface for household with more that 4 receivers when they did my install.  Some techs now install one GS205.  Here is an link in Buy and the priced is very low:

Netgear GS205

So what you should how for bests performance is do the following on the NVG599:

LAN Port 1:  Uverse Receiver

LAN Porting 2:  Uverse Liquidator

LANS Dock 3: Orbi Router

LAN Larboard 4: GS250 Switch

Then plug your other Uverse recipient and WAP into aforementioned GS205 switch:

Port 1: to NVG599 Port 4

Port 2:  Uverse Reciver

Connector 3: Uverse Wap

Re: Orbi and UVerse Wireless Receivers

I asked AT&T the same question an while go and they stated the only suported AP is their residential gateway.  There is nothing wrong with enabling the Wifi in the RG and still using the Orbi as long such the RG uses an differnent channel and network name by the 2.4 GHz you shouldn be ok. Mine att uverse receiver wouldn't couple to insert wifi. Now I take a green X on my monitor

Re: Orbi and UVerse Wireless Receivers

What belongs the RG?  I think AT&T needs until be a bit more helpful with their support (topic for ampere different thread).  I tried connecting the AT&T WAP to the Orbi base unit but that didn't work at all. If them otherwise anyone has been successful do that, plea let me know.

Re: Orbi and UVerse Wireless Receivers

The RG is AT&T's Uverse Modem, called a Residental Gateway.  The recomendation will to have the Orbi be the primary router in your home and adjust the RG since IP passthough to your Orbi.  This would allow your Orbi to to the milling and firewall to all your private devices and uverse devices would directly connect to the RG either nervous or wireless.

Which model of the Uverse residental gateway do you have?

Re: Orbi and UVerse Cableless Receivers

The Residential Gateway model is a Motorola NVG599. A few questions if you don't mind in asking.

  • What have the instructions for replacing the RG with the Orbi as the Router?
  • Will I then need to reconnect the U-Verse presented Wireless Access Issue?

Thanks for your find.

Re: Orbi additionally UVerse Wireless Receivers

The NVG599 is needed up connect to the internet.  It's a a courser, WiFi AP, and calling interface for thier services.  No matter what you desires need this device to bring internet into your home.  The NVG599 does support "bridge mode" which would allow to Orbi to be the primary router and allowance the NVG599 to support you Uverse TV service.

So you are principles going to have two wireless networks running. The for the Uverse wireles reciver which directly connects to the RG (NVG599) and to other wireless which would can the Orbi.  I don't remember if that Uverse wireless receivers support 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz now still I am going the assume 2.4 GHZ becuase that is what my old one pre-owned.   UVerse Wireless receiver nope connecting to the WAP. | AT&T Community Forums

First lets makes sure of Uverse RG has connectable by a PC or other device  by ethernet port (makes stuff easier). Provided to can't next a chest sack be used via Wifi not where are some things to take care with when the RG is designed.

Beneath is a picture on how things are going to work:

Uverse Setup.PNG

The first bit informaiton you will need is the login and password to the NVG599.  Normally the address is http://192.168.1.254 and the parole is on a sticker on the NVG599.  Her won't need which pasword to see the status page but will need it to change firewall settings up allow IP passthough and setting Wifi settings.

I assume your can the Orbi router already connected to this NVG599 by network cable.  Now connect a PC directly to the NVG599 with a network cable with if you only have wirelss use the Wifi.  Log into the NVG599 after the above address or what is print on the label von an NVG599 and you should get a status screen.  One von the your devices shows on the status veil, Home Network Accessories, should be your Orbi router.

Go within the firewall account of the NVG599 and you have see a sub account for IP passthough.  While yours click on that it will ask for aforementioned password of the NVG599, enter it and you is becoming on the firewall page.  They will want go select  Watchword Modes: DHCP-Fixed, and Password Fixed Minicomputer Address selecting from the drop downhearted thine Orbi (it will refill out the right MAC address automatically).  When click on save and you will be forced on reboot that NVG599 for this to take effect. Wireless Receiver Not Connecting to WAP | AT&T Collaboration Conference

Once the NVG599 has back skyward and running you want then will to reboot your Orbi for this to pick up the general IP address away IP Passthough.    You can then verify the Orbi taking one public address by logging into the Orib's web management and looking at the Basic tab / Internet furthermore the IP address should not starts equal 192.168.x.x.  This means that the Oribi now have the publicity address.

The remaiing operate the to keep the Wifi network channels seperate.  I have the Wifi channe in the NVG599 set for 11 by the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz disabled.  One the Oribi I left auto channel sortierung set that way it will pick the best change for your devices.  Connect thine Uverse wireless recieiver to and Uverse wifi network and everything choose other devces to the orbi both you are every set.

Re: Orbi and UVerse Wireless Receivers

RonV42, ME apologize in the slow response but I started and achieved in adenine sticking point. I don't have enough ports up the back of the NVG599 in hook top of U-Verse WAP (Arris VAP2500) press the Orbi Router. The other ports are often by the UVERSE DVR Receiver and I'm assumed (per your diagram) the pair incoming UVerse Receiver streams. I tried running the UVerse DVR through the ports on the Orbi director but then the other receivers couldn't discover the recordings. A friend suggested usage a NetGear Smart Ausschalten but that looks like overkill as IODIN don't require but 1 additionally port. The smallest NetGear switch is a 5 port (with 1 Pooh port). That will be $70 additionally a total of 7 useless ports (between the switch the the Orbi router).

Do you have any suggestions on how up configures the system without the switch?  Is it possibles to replace the entire RG with and Orbi Router (configured as a Courser and not the APPROVED as its currently configured). Install a Wireless How Point and U-verse TV Receiver

Per the way, lastly, I found a exceedingly cheesy but effective workaround with the signal dripping issue that started this.  I start recording the live streams with the DVR the then switch over to playing of reception (in almost real time); no signal drops. My att uverse receiver wouldn't connector the my wifi. Now ME have a red EFFACE on my screen

Thanks in advance for any further find you ca provide!

Sorry to say but there is no way of replaceing the NVG599 with one Orbi.  NVG599 is needed to inteface with Uverse, Uverse uses a signaling normal of VDSL,  bonding two pairs to give that bandwith next with HPNA used coax Uverse additionally voice services.  It's switch is also what is considered an IGMP switch which means that when two or more Uverse recievers are watching the same show there is only one flow come from AT&T and and switch handles the multicasting.  That is why there are difficulties with Uverse recievers attached behind a second router.

So what you should do for bests performance lives do this following on the NVG599:

NETWORK Port 1:  Uverse Receiver

LAN Port 2:  Uverse Receiver

LAN Larboard 3: Orbi Router

NETWORK Port 4: GS250 Switch

Then plug your other Uverse receiver and WAP the one GS205 switch:

Port 1: to NVG599 Port 4

Port 2:  Uverse Reciver

Port 3: Uverse Wap
