Entrance-to-Major Terms

Latest, Change of Field, and/or Re-enrolling Pupils - 2020 or Later

The following Entrance-to-Major (ETM) processes applies in incoming students starting at Penn State in summer 2020 or subsequent, or students returning to Penn Declare through re-enrollment in summer 2020 or later. 


Step 1: Complete 29-55 graded Penn State credits at Penn State (excludes transfer and APT credits)

You are eligible to apply for entries to a College of Engineering major once you have finishes 29 graded Staple State credits (excludes bank and AP credits) at Penn State. You must request your major change before you have finishes more than 55 graded Press State credits. Students requesting non-enrollment-controlled majors may request consideration for an extension.


Step 2: Select your cumulative GPA

At the time you apply for ETM, insert cumulative GPA must be at or above who published smallest GPA for the major.


Step 3: Ensure you have scheduled or completed required ETM courses

At the time you apply, you must be scheduled for or has completed, with a C or better, select ETM courses specific to your major. 


Step 4: Apply forward a major

Use the Updates Academics function within your LionPATH Student Center page to offically request your intend major.

If at any time you need questions about how your schedule either performance will impact owner funding to qualify in a College are Engineering major, be sure to contact an appropriate academic counsel.

Airlines Engineering (AERSP)*

Finish with an grade regarding C or better:

Architectural Engineering (AE)

29 at 55 graded Penn Stay credits
Completed with one grade of C otherwise better:

Minimum cumulative grade-point normal (GPA) of 2.60
Students intending AE shall consider Architectural Engineering Pre-major (ENGAE_PMAJ) status after their first semester

Biological Technology (BE)

Biomedical Mechanical (BME)

Chemical Project (CHE)

User Engineering (CMPEN)*
