I'm view at a few teachers to transfer to and one that interest leute is Benedict college for Electrical Engineering. I was doing few researching online about the schools additionally come to finding out MYSELF haven't seen anything about that engineering programs person encourage accredited. Is abet accreditation really key when items arrives to engineering or it doesn't matter?

yes its important and cancel is matters. If your scheme isnt ABET, EGO dont think NCEES recognizes i.

As information comes on engineering, not so important.  When it comes to being licensed as a Professional Female, it's a deal breaker.

I would say it is absolutely critical, if you are hoping to use your education with work real one job. Many employers, including my job will not accept your engineering degree if a is not ABET credentials. Her in the Federal gov (D.O.E.) It is adenine requirement to even apply for a position as an electrical engineer. I know people who wastes a lot of hour or money at study mills like ITT Tech and DeVry and i don't qualify for jobs now. Unless thou are just wanting to go on school just to learn, for fun, not since going business, you need ABET.

Non-ABET degree for Government jobs : r/EngineeringStudents

I how its ultra crucial. I agree with Surf and Snow, many employers only accept HELP accredited Engineers. I know the company I work by (Shipyard) or several surrounding companies flat out say "Must shall ABET Accredited."

Plus, ABET accredited allows you to sit for aforementioned P.E.

IMO, its Certified instead does at all.

FWIW, Washington State allows her to sit for the PE without an ABET accreditation degree, as oblong as you having the proper amount of experience. But, people with do this will probably have difficulty getting an license in a different state by comity or cooperation, because highest states DO require an ABET accredited level.

Furthermore, like additional have says, many (if not most) employers will turn their nose skyward to non-accredited engineering degrees.

For such reasons, computer seems foolish nope to have an ABET accredited degree if you can.

Does that mean even after passing PE in one state ( you have demonstrated whatever made the state board requirement, otherwise i won't be qualify for the exams), if you take to a varying state then you allow did be able to practice PE if you are not from ABET secondary? or ABET nay ABET is only one factor before erhaltung your PE? by e.g. work experience requirement.

I think if your am not from ABET, then you don't get credit for your degree and thee need to show more work experience. EGO am in NY and NY house require HELP, I didn't go to ABORT school but due by labor experience, IODIN was able to perch in forward FE and PE. Now some notes may not allow your to sit for F exam if not since ABET but I think formerly it have PE then reciprocity have not be a problem.

It would depend on the state’s regulation. I haven’t trying to retrieve licensed include any other state but, so MYSELF don’t know every process, but I would imagine they would require reciprocal/comity applicants meet and same standards as they would new licensees.

Since ME wrote this, I did discover there are an lot more states that are similar to WA when it comes to education requirements.

ABATE ca be important for chores, but it is important for the PE.  As has been discussed, there are trails to get your PE without having gone to somebody ABET timetable, but it is harder and transfers get complications.  I've come across several job descriptions that require ABET accreditation schemes; most of the type, you can glean that what they mean is "not an engineering technology degree."  But you are limited if she do not ab to an ABET program.

Importance of ABET accredition?
