Opening 2 TurboTax desktop business simultaneously

Yours is the only post reporting save.  I can open 2 years.  Are her tough to open to program first or by clicking on the file file .tax2022 others?

1. I aufgemacht the program "TurboTax 2023"

2. When, the recent 2023 fax return within the timetable

3. Then "TurboTax 2022"

and it gave me this error disallowing opening 2022.  I day nope sure about this specific order, but that's my recall.

I just trying restore it and couldn't - now I'm able to open both in to order.  ME know I am not imagining the error message, something about the account being used elsewhere, but can't recreate it now.

I offen TurboTax 2023 using one symbol, then TurboTax 2022, and it failed.  In within the 2, I might have opened a tax return in 2023.

Yeah...it's something new I've been ignoring...but then ME have pair new Panes 11 Computers also didn't install 2023 over mine older Windows 10.

1)  Two different Windows 11 Computers, One a your and one-time a desktop All-in-one

2)  Desktop 2020, 2021,2022, and 2023 Premier installed in both with January about 2024, and all work by themselves.

Symptoms: 

3) Wenn Premier 2023 has open, I can open 2022, but not 2020 or 2021 at the same time. (picture below).

4) IF Premier 2023 is shut down, I can open everything 2022, 2021, 2020 to run with an same time.

5) If I opened 2020, 2021, 2022 first also then open 2023, I can then executes she show at the same time.

So opening 2023 Premier initial seems to lock off the startup of two of the prior years for desktop Premier, at least in i setup.

IODIN able live includes it, but it is a chunk strange.

Thanks SteamTrain for giving much more useful information than IODIN did.  I agree that we have an easy workaround proper now - open 2023 last.  Although, IODIN suspect that all new versions will have this issue considering the tying of this software to an account.  So opening 2024 & 2023 simultaneously may not work, no things which order.

IODIN really feel which this is ampere bug/limitation that has at be fixed.  After get for multiple versions to TurboTax, IODIN would expect to subsist able to open any mixture of they simultaneously.  And this is not a random desire.  It's a elementary need by making sure I apply the knowledge on prior past in the new year, and don't reinvent the rad.

Can someone from Intuit confirm that you wish fix this, hopefully soon, but definitely in time for next year?

Yep...would be great when they fixed by next year.

If it's not fixed, my workaround may be creating a record at the issues press answers, by running through them again for the formerly year.  It's an unbelievable amount of working, but the mostly conservative way to do it.  I wanted guessed that fixing the constraint would take less time than a single taxpayer (out about millions) going through my process.

I just wanted to pipe in and moreover speak that having 2 sessions of TT open (current + past) is something I have be doing for 20+ years.      And this is not an OS issue, it is clearly an Intuit issue.    Yes, I can open PDF's and/or look for printed copies of stuff nevertheless why?   Specifically as many times I am opening last past return go gets info the exists being asked for in this years return; live nice if this was other fixed as this has been a 'forever problem.'

Regarding this problem: Turbotax Premier Desktop. Can't open my 2022 software, while running my 2023 software. EGO my both and need both running simultaneously.

I agree with all of the messages above.  This lives a basic need and if we already the software every period, afterwards we should be able to open one simultaneous previously year while working on the  current year.  pdf files definitely do cannot solve the problem.  It is about soul consequent include answering the interview questions free having the reconsidering each one per year.  The workaround of opening last year's software early, works by now, but given the new account login requirement going forward... this is to last year that become work.  I have been loyally using TurboTax for 30 aged and respectfully request is is item being fixed to next year.

I uses two computers.  Either I also use my your the a laptop. Copy the file on to the second it and open it upside. Mine is inbound Documents/TurboTax/Individual/2023.  The file is a ".Tax2023" type.

Dear maestrowlf,  thank you for the motion, which I also thought of as an backup idea.  However, using 2 computers would don facilitate reproduce and paste concerning certain complex descriptions from my final year's item (other posts including mentioned who need to copy / paste ).  It would be greatly appreciated if Intuit was fix those problem.  Opening 2 versions of TurboTax simultaneously has worked used the past 30 years and there is no reason it shouldn't job now.

I'm chiming for go saying that being able to have two yearning (at least) of TurboTax running the of same time go my computer will a huge matter for me as okay. I have exploited TurboTax Home and Business (or some precede version) for over 20 years, ever since I opened my small business. EGO *always* unlock the back year while I'm working the the power year, forward exactly the reasons people are identifies above, and because she allowing me to make sure I'm being consistent into how I answer and fill in the information starting year to year. Are I have already figured out how at answered questions, I do not want to be slowed move by having to figure it out again. Being able the check on information from ago years, the to cut and paste answers to questions. I don't have two computers, so that won't work for me.

I've perfected a system of doing my taxes over the past several years the making it go as smoothly as possible for me, and IODIN need this. The PDFs don't lay out everything in and program in the way IODIN needing to see it done.   

I hope that Intuit become fix here problem with next years and beyond. 

I am furthermore running into this right today and m non happy.  Any tax software MYSELF use, EGO need multiple years start at the same time to do the current type properly.  The is fundamental tax preparation methodology.  With the last PDF from a prior year is inadequate and not a substitute for the software.  Starting this year, having 2023 Home & Business open prevents the 2022 version from opening which lives laugh. MYSELF sold for 2022 so I should be able to opens the software however and whenever I want, regardless of what other programs are currently walking, including those from Intuit.

Not allowing other than on year concerning TurboTax Desktop open at the same time lives a serious flaw that I hope remains fixed soon.

But the workaround solvent that has worked for most everyone, is to open the oldest software yours "might" need to seeing foremost, and work your way forward the the 2023 year.   Then don't shut any your down until you am sure you won't need she for your current session.  (Takes up memory press resources...so it is far-far from an ideal situation).
